More About Tension and Trauma Release Exercises (TRE)

TRE consists of a series of 7 exercises that initiate neurogenic tremors in the body and were developed by Dr David Berceli who is an international expert in trauma intervention and conflict resolution. Neurogenic tremors are an involuntary shaking of the body that reduce over activity in the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis bringing a calming effect to the central nervous system. TRE is a proven way to release anxiety, muscular tension, chronic stress and trauma which are the symptoms experienced when the body engages in cascade defence strategies. When we experience threat, (whether perceived or real), the body will attempt to defend us by initially switching us to a mode of "fight or flight". In the event that the threat is perceived to be even greater then the body will switch us to a "freeze or collapse" state.

If the body continues to perceive threat when it has passed and no longer exists, it will result in the ongoing symptoms associated with being in danger. PTSD (Post traumatic stress disorder) is a direct result of perceived threat where none exists along with the symptoms of anxiety, tension and stress. In many cases symptoms can include ongoing dissociation and depression. This is where there is a feeling of not being in the body (floating) or that you are in the wrong body or even that the body and the mind are entirely separate from each other. If this persists it will likely cause long term serious health related issues where the body becomes differentiated meaning that it is not working in harmony with itself. This is because the body is not meant to be in a state where it perceives danger or threat for more than a comparatively short time.

TRE safely resets primitive defence reflexes allowing deep relaxation, increasing muscle tone and a reduction in pain and stress effect on the body and mind. This allows the body to move back into a state of homeostasis where it can again begin to work in harmony with itself.

Please note that TRE is a purely physiological (ie body only) therapy.
It does not involve discussion of psychological issues, spiritual or religious beliefs and is not energy work. It does not require that you remember or even understand how it works to be effective and is designed to used on a self help basis. When you have learned TRE you can use it independently as and when needed throughout your life to promote personal health and wellbeing.

As the tremors in the muscles are a natural part of our healing physiology, everyone can gain a benefit. This is because it naturally reduces the levels of stress resulting in a deep relaxation of the muscles which allows an increase in resilience of the body. For example, it can ease negative emotions ranging from a mild upset to intense anxiety independent of cause whether it is relationship conflict, physical & work stress, excessive worry or trauma from accidents.

In Person at Your Own Home for £60
In person sessions at your own home are available up to a distance of 14 miles from central Lincoln. Use the Booking Calendar to Book Now or if you wish to book a session that is further away then please Contact Paul with details of your requirements.

Individual Workshop for £49
TRE Workshops are held on a Saturday between 10am and 1pm at Welton Village Hall Lincoln LN2 3NR and are one of the best ways to experience TRE and a very deep relaxation. The timetable covers the following:

Before arriving .....
Please ensure you bring a mat and cushion (or block) to support your head and a blanket as TRE and yoga nidra involve being laid down for up to 25 minutes. Wearing clothing that is not restrictive is also advisable.
